Amarjit Singh Kullar and UK Prime Minister David Cameron

Amarjit Singh Kullar Property developer from Leicester (UK) and Ex Hockey player was amongst a select list of prominent UK Sikhs invited by British Prime Minster David Cameron to Number 10 Downing Street. The Prime Minster hosted a Vaisakhi (A Sikh New Year festival) at his official residence and office on Monday 16th April 2012.

“It was a great honor and pleasure for me to have this extraordinary opportunity to personally met with David Cameron and celebrate Vaisakhi at 10 Downing Street” Said Mr. Kullar.

phA number of high profile individuals were present at the event which celebrated the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi. They included Lord Inderjit Singh of Wimbledon, Baroness Warsi (Chairman of Conservative Party), Monty Panesar (England Cricketers), Simon Hughes(Deputy Leader of Liberal Democrat), Parmjit Singh Gill (Ex member of parliament) and Rasham Singh Sindhu (Former High Sharif of  Leicester, who made history being the first Sikh High Sheriff in U.K.

It was a truly magnificent event and to be involved in a reception with such high profile guests was both an honor and a privilege. I used this opportunity to discuss that how the UK Banks are not supporting Small Business and also discussed with Simon Hughes regarding the new law of Housing Benefit payments being paid direct to the tenants and what effects its has on Landlords when tenants fail to pay. Added Mr. Kullar.

In his address at the reception, The Prime Minster David Cameron Said the number of Sikhs are approximately 700,000 in the UK, their representation “in all aspects of British Society show that they punch well above their weight.”

The event was concluded with live Bhangra Music by famous Punjabi Singer Channi and his daughter Mona.
